Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.   DUTIES  - Schedules and assists in the preventative maintenance of equipment; - Dismantles or partially dismantles furnaces, conveyors, cutting tools and other machinery gaining access to defective part using appropriate hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers; - Repairs parts obtaining replacements from appropriate source and reassembles machinery; - Troubleshoots problems to determine most effective solutions; - Works from prints, diagrams, instruction sheets, manuals and oral instructions; - Makes minor repairs to motors, wires, blown fuses, etc.; - Handles routine checks and inspection of plant electrical equipment as well as running conduit sizing wire and circuits; - Completes all required reports and forms according to plant policy and departmental procedures; - Observes Safety rules consistent with company policy and OSHA requirements; - Performs other duties as assigned.   REQUIREMENTS - Two (2) to five (5) years combined experience in a manufacturing maintenance position; - Ability to troubleshoot electrical, 110v single phase through 480v 3 phase; - Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and carpentry; - Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) - Knowledge of national and local safety and inspection codes for effected areas; - Thorough understanding of AC & DC motors, motor starters, solenoids, pressure switches, proximity switches, limit switches, etc.; - Knowledge of, and ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics ; - Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.   SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Work is of some complexity requiring a moderate degree of decision making in the application of procedures and methods to determine appropriate remedies for diverse problems.  Incumbent must have knowledge of the operation of numerous processes and machines.  Work requires practical knowledge of tools, blueprint reading and planning and layout.   RESPONSIBILITY Incumbent’s contribution is essential to the day-to-day operation of the department.  The Maintenance Technician works with considerable independence from supervisory control and has the authority to deviate from instructions if necessary while keeping supervisor updated.  Incumbent must apply technical knowledge found in manuals of operation and other applicable policies and procedures.  Judgment and decisions by the incumbent will effect the quality and adequacy of the work. Accuracy is needed to ensure resolution to maintenance problems.  Care and skill is needed to protect tools and prevent injury.   Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend and overnight work is also necessary. Travel No travel is expected for this position.   Preferred Education and Experience - An AA degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance. - Vacuum furnace experience. Supports PCB design, embedded software, test, and diagnostic equipment design and development. This position will devise new approaches to problems, prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable specifications, accepted engineering practices, and company standards.
