Senior Electrical/Hardware Design Engineer ==================================   # of openings: 1 Job category: Engineering Job location: 30779 Oak Creek Drive, Wixom, MI 48393   Duties:   Lippert Components, Inc. is seeking a full-time Senior Electrical/Hardware Design Engineer at our offices in Wixom, MI. Responsible for developing electrical design, circuit development, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout, simulations and testing, and designing products for the auto industry. Devise new approaches to problems and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable specifications, accepted engineering practices, and Lippert’s standards. Create and maintain copies of drawings and information in our product database. Specific duties will include: performing detailed layout design, placement, stack-up, routing, drawing generation of PCBs; building and using industry standard pad stacks, schematic symbols, and parametric parts; importing, exporting, and checking Mechanical Computer-Aided Design (MCAD) and Electronics Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) designs for compatibility and prototyping; establishing all electrical functionalities such as current carrying and isolation requirements; preparing all necessary artwork and electronic data required for completing board fabrication; producing 3D models of boards for mechanical integration; creating electronic library symbols, geometry, and footprints per Institute for Printed Circuits (IPC) standards; performing Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R); Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA); Design for Manufacturability (DFM); and Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) for Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA); determining layer stack up, performing component package selection, component placement, routing feasibility studies, and signal routing of digital, analog, Radio Frequency (RF), and power conversion of PCB; collaborating with internal teams and PCB vendors to continually improve design rules, constraints, and design for test and manufacture guidelines; utilizing PCB design tools, maintaining and evaluating new tools, and training team members to use tools; interfacing with ERP system to drive drawing and Bill of Material (BOM) releases and changes; assisting in the collection and maintenance of vehicle and product application data to develop product; evaluating and documenting vehicles and independently determining product requirements; making final sketch of proposed drawing and checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structures or project; setting up and maintaining an organized file system for production drawings; communicating with Tooling, Quality Assurance (QA), Engineering, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised prints; and performing other duties as assigned. This position will supervise two peers.   Requirements: This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field and four (4) years of related experience with schematic design. Must also have 12 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Designing and developing embedded system hardware - Power Management Systems and Logic Circuit changes; 2) Analyzing 3D models to develop 2D drawings and electrical harnesses using AutoCAD; 3) Developing schematics using tools such as ORCAD or Altium or Eagle; 4) Understanding communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN bus system and wireless communications including Wi-Fi for schematic development; and 5) Leading projects from concept to serial production and guiding production for complete product development. The BPC will provide chassis beams to all of the LCI plants in Elkhart County by running 24 hours per day. Line maintenance will be performed with the speed and precision of a NASCAR pit stop to maximize line up-time. The pace will be fast and the work very rewarding in a comfortable environment.
