Overview

Summary/Objective

 

The Material Handler position performs all tasks involved in the part pulling process and is primarily responsible for assisting in the flow of production. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

Essential Functions

  1. Observance of all safety rules and policies maintained by the company.
  2. Must be able to operate appropriate equipment.
  3. Must be able to physically and mentally maintain daily production goals and deadlines as established by management
  4. Maintenance of raw material inventory (parts, supplies, etc.
  5. Movement of materials into and through production/shipping – feeding the line
  6. Preparation, and maintenance, and of all fork trucks and tools
  7. Assistance in loading and preparing product for build.
  8. Rotation of position within team structure as necessary
  9. Assistance in repair work as necessary
  10. Maintenance of good housekeeping practices at all times
  11. Safe operation of fork truck/picker
  12. Load and unload delivery trucks and make sure that each incoming delivery matches the company purchase order
  13. Assist in reviewing pick sheets based on monitor supply levels and submit purchasing recommendations on a regular basis
  14. Investigate departments when material issues arise, communicating those issues with team members
  15. Collaborate with the inventory control and purchasing groups to determine when product is missing in a delivery

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. 

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting, crouching, crawling, and pulling all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Travel

Travel would be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Must be able to physically and mentally maintain daily production goals and deadlines as established by management.
  3. Must have prior forklift experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Manufacturing/industry experience.
