Design Engineer:
Taylor Made, a division of Lippert Components, is the world’s leading manufacturer of marine glazing, fabric systems and seating is looking for a project design manager to apply his/her engineering skills to the design of new products for our OEM customers.

Essential Functions:
- Follow our Value Stream Mapping Process (VSM) for new project introduction along with Enovia project software to manage his/her projects.
- Assist the quote team with a review of new projects and design feasibility. This includes supporting the quote team with needed information to allow them to accurately cost out new business.
- Responsible to review and maintain cost of product design projects to insure these projects meet cost targets outlined to the customer.
- Interact directly with Taylor Made (TM) sales team and TM customers to make sure all correct information (including specifications) have been obtained before a project starts.
- Set up and maintain engineering files for design projects using our current process as outlined by our engineering CAD administrator.
- Provide customers with drawings and CAD (2D/3D) files using Creo along with AutoCAD software in order to provide definitive upfront project information to customers.
- Interact directly with suppliers and TMS purchasing personnel to ensure required materials for projects are procured in a timely manner in order to meet customer deadlines.
- Responsible in making sure the finished prototype meets customer expectations and specifications. With that insure that TMS has properly obtained written approval and they are maintained in our system.
- Provide engineering documentation and tooling information (2D assembly drawings/3D tooling files) as part of our process to produce tooling for the production floor after customer has provided the prototype approval.
- Responsible for updating and completing the engineering documentation for production once tooling has been completed.
- Process ECN (Engineering Change Notices) as required.
- Follow established CAD practices and standards while participating in the development of new ones as necessary.
- Conduct all design and project management in accordance to current and future TMS ISO guidelines.
- Assist the production teams on the floor when needed in helping them with product technical issues/questions.
- Travel to customers, other TMS/LCI manufacturing facilities (to review TMS capabilities and practices) and trade shows (understand and learn of trends in the marine and non-marine industry) when required.
- Work with the TMS New Product Development Team to assist in the integration of new products to the customer and manufacturing.


Responsible to the Director of Engineering in managing new prototype projects (for entire product life cycle) while providing all needed documentation for our marine products that meet the requirements of the customer (internal and external).


This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities upon hire.


Incumbent is usually exposed to standard office environment. He/she will normally be seated, standing or walking at will.


This is a full-time salary position, hours/days of work are decided by reporting manager.


Travel will be minimal and determined by reporting manager.


- 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 2-5 years similar experience (will consider other).
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Creo and/or Solid Works software.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
- Very organized and a self-starter.
- Willing to work overtime in order to meet project deadlines.
- Willing to work hands on.
- Willing to travel.
- Willing to work full time in our Gloversville, NY engineering center.
- Experience with Value Analysis - Value Engineering (VA/VE) problem-solving.
